Workshop: Contract Management in Local Government (MFMA)

Background:

Contracts are entered into with best intentions but very often the management thereof is non-existent or at best is performed unsatisfactory.

This scenario leads to the following:

  • No one knows who is responsible for the management of contracts
  • The contractual obligations of the contracting parties are not fully appreciated
  • Unsatisfactory contractors are not identified in time which leads to problems
  • Penalty clauses are not enforced
  • Price adjustments are not properly controlled
  • Proper contract management and monitoring of contracts is not done.

Accreditation:

This three-day workshop is not accredited by any unit standard and is specially developed to introduce appropriate role players to contract management in local Government.

Purpose of this workshop:

This is not a legal course but is aimed at the role players that has to compile, work and administer contracts on a daily basis.

The purpose of this workshop is to provide these role players with the background on the pre – contractual phase, compilation of the contract phase and management of contract phase specifically linked to public sector legislative and policy requirements.
